Common questions
A site looks broken or won't work
Turn Rinse off for that site: tap aA (iPhone, iPad) or the Rinse button in the toolbar (Mac), choose Rinse, then Turn off on this site. The page reloads without blocking. You can also add or remove sites in the Rinse app under Rinse is off on these sites.
I still see an ad on YouTube
Close the YouTube tab and open the video again. Make sure Rinse for YouTube is on and allowed on youtube.com. YouTube changes often; if ads keep showing, let us know with the video link.
The video waits a few seconds and shows "Ad skipped"
After an ad is removed or skipped, YouTube sometimes holds the video back for about as long as the ad would have run. That happens on YouTube's servers and can't be avoided from the browser. Rinse shows the note so you know the player isn't frozen.
How do I keep YouTube playing in the background?
Open the Rinse app and turn on Keep playing in the background, then reload the YouTube page. It's off by default, so YouTube pauses as usual when you leave Safari.
Does Rinse work in other browsers or in the YouTube app?
No. Rinse works in Safari only. Apple doesn't let extensions run inside other apps, including the YouTube app.
Does Rinse see my browsing?
No. The content blockers can't see pages at all, and nothing is sent anywhere. See the Privacy Policy.
How are the filter lists updated?
They're included in each app update. Keep Rinse updated from the App Store to get the latest lists.
